THE KAALIE FIELD GUIDE

How to check whether AI recommends your brand

Build a repeatable AI visibility check with buyer questions, competitor comparisons, source citations and clearly reported sample sizes.

1. Write questions before checking the answers

Start with what a potential buyer needs to decide. Include category discovery, use cases, constraints and geography. Avoid filling the whole test with your brand name: that measures brand-specific responses rather than whether you appear in an unprompted shortlist.

2. Keep the test conditions visible

Record the prompt, model, date and whether web search was available. Use the same questions across the models you compare. API-generated samples can differ from consumer apps, so label the environment accurately and do not present one response as everyone’s experience.

3. Separate mentions, recommendations and citations

A brand can be mentioned as a warning or comparison without being recommended. A cited domain may support a general fact rather than endorse your business. Read the answer and identify which brand and statement each source actually supports.

4. Report a bounded result and investigate gaps

State the number of answers in which the brand appeared out of the number checked. Review competitor appearances alongside yours. Kaalie’s recorded answers and citations help identify questions where your information is unclear or absent. Improve useful, accurate public content and repeat comparable checks over time.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

A worked example

If your brand appears in 6 of 20 recorded answers, report 30% visibility within that test. Keep separate counts for recommendations and linked citations; they answer different questions.

Example for explanation; not a measured customer result.

Common questions

Does better SEO guarantee AI citations?

No. Helpful, accessible content supports discovery, but no technique guarantees inclusion in AI answers.

Should I change the prompts every time?

Keep a stable core set for comparisons. Add new prompts separately so a change in the sample does not masquerade as a change in performance.
