THE KAALIE FIELD GUIDE
How to see your competitors’ ads
A practical guide to finding competitor ads, confirming advertiser identities and building a useful comparison without guessing campaign performance.
1. Start with the official advertiser sources
Use Meta Ad Library for Facebook and Instagram ad research and Google Ads Transparency Center for available Google advertiser creatives. Begin with the company name and website. Check the country and identity rather than choosing the first similar name. Availability and detail vary by source and ad type.
2. Capture enough context to compare
Record the source URL, advertiser, product, offer, creative format and observation date. Keep a visible start date separate from the date you collected the ad. If a field is missing, leave it unknown instead of filling it with a collection timestamp.
3. Sort by the question you want to answer
To study pricing, group discount and bundle offers. To study positioning, group messages by benefit or customer problem. To study creative approaches, separate demonstrations, testimonials and product-only visuals. These comparisons are more useful than a folder of unrelated screenshots.
4. Build an experiment from the evidence
Choose one pattern and decide how your own brand could test the underlying idea. Kaalie helps organise collected ads alongside social content and reviews, so your reasoning stays connected to sources. Judge the test with your own results; public libraries do not reveal the competitor’s return on spend.
A worked example
Comparison checklist: confirmed advertiser → source link → observed date → offer → creative format → customer problem → one testable idea.
Example for explanation; not a measured customer result.Common questions
Can I search for ads without a competitor’s login?
Public advertiser libraries are the starting point; you do not need access to a competitor’s Ads Manager. Source access requirements can change.
Does an active ad mean it is profitable?
No. Active status and creative availability are not conversion or profitability measurements.
